FAQ

Do I need a Dr’s referral for physiotherapy?
A Dr’s referral is NOT required to attend physiotherapy. Physiotherapists are primary healthcare providers and are able to support your wellness independent of a Dr referral.
What if I can’t afford a full physiotherapy plan and I don’t have insurance?
Our team can work with patients based on their budget. Our goal is to support your health in any way possible. Let our front desk and your designated Physiotherapist know what is possible for you and we can build out a plan that aligns with that.
What can I expect during a physiotherapy session?
During an initial physiotherapy session, the physiotherapist will conduct an assessment to evaluate your condition and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Treatment sessions may involve manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, stretching, electrotherapy modalities, and education about self-management strategies. The therapist will guide and monitor your progress throughout the sessions.
Is physiotherapy painful?
Physiotherapy techniques are generally designed to alleviate pain, promote healing, and improve function. While some techniques may cause temporary discomfort or mild soreness, it is essential to communicate any pain or discomfort to your physiotherapist. They can adjust their techniques or treatment plan accordingly to ensure your comfort and safety.
How long does a physiotherapy session last?
The duration of a physiotherapy session can vary depending on your condition, treatment goals, and the recommendations of your physiotherapist. Initial sessions may be longer, typically ranging from 45 minutes to an hour, as they involve assessments and developing a treatment plan. Follow-up sessions typically range from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the treatment techniques and exercises involved.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
The number of physiotherapy sessions required depends on various factors, including the nature and severity of your condition, your overall health, and your response to treatment. Some individuals may see improvement after a few sessions, while others may require more prolonged treatment for chronic or complex conditions. Your physiotherapist will assess your progress regularly and discuss the estimated number of sessions needed for optimal results.
Can physiotherapy prevent surgery?
In some cases, physiotherapy can help manage and alleviate symptoms to the point where surgery may not be necessary. Physiotherapists can provide prehabilitation, which focuses on strengthening and optimizing the body before surgery, and post-surgical rehabilitation to aid recovery. However, the need for surgery and the suitability of physiotherapy as a non-surgical option depend on the individual's specific condition and consultation with their healthcare team.
Can I receive physiotherapy even if I don't have an injury or specific condition?
Absolutely! Physiotherapy can be beneficial for individuals seeking to improve their overall physical well-being, prevent injuries, enhance performance, and maintain optimal function. Physiotherapists can provide guidance on exercise, posture, ergonomics, and lifestyle modifications to support a healthy and active lifestyle.
Can I use my health insurance plan?
Yes. We offer direct billing on your behalf to your health/ auto insurance company. We also offer direct billing for motor vehicle accidents.
Do you offer OHIP?
Yes. We are  registered with WSIB, Ministry of Health for a publicly funded program that covers physiotherapy treatment for eligible patients through OHIP.
What should I wear?
It is recommended that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your chiropractic treatment. Avoid wearing any restrictive clothing or jewelry that might interfere with the adjustment. If you are receiving a massage therapy session, it is suggested that you wear shorts and a tank top or sports bra for comfort.
